Diana M Drake Natural MedicineThyroid & hormones

Your labs came back normal. You don't feel normal.

You're exhausted, you're cold, your hair is thinning and your weight won't move — and you've been told everything looks fine. That's the most common conversation I have, and it's almost never because nothing is wrong. It's because nobody looked far enough.

What people come to me with

If several of these are true, your thyroid deserves a proper look

EnergyTired all the time regardless of sleep. Wiped out by mid-afternoon. Everything takes more effort than it should.
TemperatureCold hands and feet. Cold when nobody else is. Never quite warm enough.
Hair & skinThinning hair, shedding, a receding hairline. Dry skin that moisturizer doesn't fix. Brittle nails.
WeightWeight that won't move despite real effort, or weight gained without changing anything.
MindBrain fog. Losing words mid-sentence. Low mood or flatness that isn't situational.
CycleIrregular, heavy or painful periods. PCOS patterns. Perimenopausal swings. Low libido.
Or you already have your answer

You know what it is. You want to heal it, not manage it.

A lot of the people I work with aren't looking for a diagnosis — they already have one. Hashimoto's. Hypothyroid. PCOS. They were handed a prescription, told this is the plan for the rest of their life, and it doesn't sit right with them. Either they don't feel well on it, or nobody ever explained what actually drove their body there in the first place.

That's a completely reasonable place to start from. Knowing the name of your condition tells you what it's called. It doesn't tell you why it happened — and the why is the only thing that decides whether anything really changes.

You want off the medication

I will design a plan to get rid of unnecessary medication, alongside the supervision of your prescribing physician — while we rebuild the terrain underneath so your body can hold the change.

You're looking to avoid a drug recommendation altogether

You've been told you're borderline, or that it's only a matter of time. That's exactly the window where this work matters most — and it's usually when people get sent away to wait until it's bad enough to medicate.

You just want to understand your own body

You're tired of being handed a label with no explanation. We go through your labs together — what each marker means, why yours look the way they do, and what we're changing and why.

About coming off medication

If reducing or coming off a prescription is your goal, that's work I do — and I do it alongside your physician, never around them. I design a plan to reduce the drugs you don't need, at a pace your labs and your doctor support. Other clients stay on their medication the whole way through and simply feel dramatically better. Both are good outcomes — we'll decide which plan is best for you based on your goals and comfort.

Why "normal" keeps coming back

One marker isn't the thyroid

Standard screening usually checks TSH — a pituitary signal, not a measure of what your thyroid is actually producing or whether your body can use it. You can sit inside the reference range on that one number and still feel exactly as you do.

What you were probably tested for

  • TSH
  • Sometimes T4

Within range, so the conversation ends there.

What I want to see

Blood
  • TSH
  • T3 and T4 — what your thyroid is actually producing
  • TPO — whether your immune system is involved
  • Thyroglobulin
Urine
  • Iodine — the raw material thyroid hormone is built from
  • Selenium — required to convert it into the active form
  • Bromine — a halide that competes with iodine and displaces it
  • Heavy metals — a burden that interferes with thyroid function
  • Creatinine — kidney function

Full panels are included in your program. You don't pay for them separately.

How I work with it

The thyroid is rarely working alone

Your gut comes first

A large share of thyroid hormone conversion happens in the gut. If digestion is inflamed, conversion suffers — which is why so many thyroid programs start somewhere that has nothing to do with the thyroid.

Then the stress axis

Chronic stress suppresses conversion directly. If your cortisol rhythm is upside down, supporting the thyroid alone rarely holds — you'll feel better for a while and then slide back.

Then blood sugar

Swings between meals drive inflammation and disrupt hormone signalling. Steadying blood sugar is unglamorous and it changes how people feel faster than almost anything else.

And the raw materials

Iodine to build thyroid hormone, selenium to convert it. Your body cannot make something out of nothing — and deficiency here is extremely common and almost never tested. I also look at what's displacing them, like bromine and accumulated heavy metals.

How long it takes

Thyroid work is a nine-month conversation

Usually 9 months

Endocrine systems are slow to shift and slow to settle. You'll generally feel meaningful change well before the end, but rebuilding conversion, replenishing what's depleted and calming the immune involvement takes most of a year. I'd rather tell you that at the start than sell you ninety days and watch it slide back.

Everything is included for the whole duration — labs, supplements, herbal and homeopathic formulas, peptides where indicated, meal plans, every appointment, and direct messaging with me throughout.

Doris's thyroid

★★★★★

I feel better than I have for years.

Working with Diana has been a true pleasure. I had my thyroid removed years ago and had been on Levithyroxine or synthroid for years. I was tired all the time and just did not feel right. I had been told by doctors that I would always have to be on prescription thyroid replacement and that there was no natural replacement.

Diana has worked with me to move me over to a natural thyroid replacement and I feel better than I have for years. She is also working with me on my weight and colesterol issues.

Diana truly cares about those she works with and she lets you know she cares, she listens when you talk and pays attention to what you say. I never feel rushed and I know i can reach out any time I need to and she will respond. God Bless Diana I am so glad i found her in my search for a natural medicine Dr, she rocks.

What I am, and what I'm not

I'm a Board Certified Traditional Naturopath — not a licensed medical doctor. I don't diagnose disease or prescribe medication. Most people come to me because they're tired of the western medical sick-care model and want to understand and heal their body rather than manage it. What I do is find the patterns underneath how you feel and build a program that supports your body in correcting them. When it's appropriate I'll work alongside a medical practitioner — and I'll tell you directly when something belongs with one.
